AGE GROUPS
Q1. How do I determine what age group my child plays in?
A1. We use the United States Youth Soccer Associations standards. It’s based on the child’s age on August 1. This means if the child is 8 on August 1 they will be consider a U9 (Under 9) player. If they are 8 on August 1, they are considered a U10 (Under 10) player.

COACHING/TRAINING
Q1. What type of training will my child receive?
A1. All of our training takes place under the supervision of our Director of Coaches, Kai Velmer. We stress the basics like ball control, ball movement and of course shooting skills. Depending on the age and level of development, each child’s coaching is more specific to their needs. Many of our coaches also hold licenses from US Youth Soccer and other nationally recognized training institutions.
Q2. How often will they practice?
A2. Age and coaches preference are the real factors. The younger age groups usually practice 2 times a week at the earlier hours (4:30PM-7:30PM). The older the age groups tend to have 2 or more practices a week and come out at the later times (7:30PM-9PM). It all depends on the coaches preferences.
Q3. When will I know the practice schedule for my childs team?
A3. All the practice schedules will be communicated to each childs parents or guardian after the teams are formed in early June right after try outs are over by either the Head coach or their designee.

FEES
Q1. How much does Competitive soccer cost?
A1. OSC offers two programs, Academy and Competitive. The cost of Academy (U9-U10) is $350 per player. The cost of Competitive (U11 and higher) is $700. There is also a refundable $50 Volunteer Fee payable at the time you register.
Q3. Why is there a Volunteer Fee?
A3. OSC is a not for profit orginization that depends on it’s members for help when it comes to game days and other events throughout the season. The Volunteer Fee does one of two things; For those that don’t wish to volunteer but rather donate their fee to the club, it helps the club buy needed equiptment and supplies to keep things running. For those that prefer to help out with their time and like the idea of holding on to their money, it motivates some to donate their "sweat" instead of their "green". This type of "donation" is just as welcomed and needed as the other and allows our parents to meet each other and makes the day more about family than just going to watch a soccer game for an hour and than leave. We love our volunteers and would be lost without them!
Q4. When will I get my Volunteer Fee refunded?
A4. After you have worked the required 5 hours in some capacity, the Volunteer Coodinator will instruct the Treasurer to refund the fee back to you. If you paid on-line via credit card, we will refund the funds back to the original card. If you paid with cash or check, we will write you a check.
Q5. What do I get for my registration fee?
A5. Both the Academy and Competitive fees include the cost of registering with state and national governing bodies, uniform kits (2 Jerseys, shorts, socks and training shirts), as well as all the other associated cost (referee fees, field expenses, rentals, administrative fees, etc.).

REC CARDS
Q1. Why do I need to get a City of Oldsmar Rec Card?
A1. OSC’s agreement with the City of Oldsmar is that they will allow us maximum use of Canal Park as long as ALL our participants are registered Recreation Card holders. This is how we pay the city for the use of the parks. Without this agreement OYSA would have to pay a much higher amount and would reduce our ability to have the type of access to Canal Park that the city affords us now.
Q2. Do I need to get a Year long Rec card or the 6 month card?
A2. That depends on your team. U9 - U14 should purchase the 1 year card since our program goes for 10 months. The senior teams (U15 and higher) can purchase the 6 month card since they start in August and end in February.
Q3. Are there any discounts available on the Rec Cards?
A3. Actually there are! If you have a rec card from Clearwater, Dunedin, Largo, Tarpon Springs, St Pete you can bring that into any Ciy of Oldsmar office and get a 1 year Rec Card for $50.
Q4. I live in Safety Harbor and heard that I only have to pay $5 for a card, is that true?
A4. It couldn’t be more true. The City of Oldsmar and the City of Safety Harbor have a recipricol program that allows residents of both city to enjoy the others programs at the same cost.
Q5. What if I don’t have a Rec Card? Can my child still play?
A5. Unfortunatly, no. It is a requirement for all new registrations that you must obtain you City of Oldsmar Rec Card PRIOR to enrollment in any of our programs.
Q6. How do I get a Rec Card?
A6. Just stop by one of the city’s 4 locations listed on their website (click here for locations)

TRY OUTS
Q1. Should we attend every Try Out date for our child’s age group?
A1. It’s a good idea to be at every date unless the coach has advised you otherwise after the first date. Remember, these are try outs. If you’re serious about making a team you need to be as visible as possible.
Q2. How long before my child’s try out session should we arrive?
A2. No less than 30 minutes. You need to check in, get a number and find your way to your child’s try out area.
Q3. What’s the benefit of Pre-Registering?
A3. It will cut off about 15 minutes of your check in time and allows you a little extra time to prepare at the fields. (Still plan on being there 30 minutes early)
Q4. If the coach tells us we’ve made the team, when can we register and where?
A4. Right on the spot! Our club registrar will be at all try out sessions ready to handle any registration needs. We aill also offer off-site dates the following week. Check the calendar on the home page for dates, times and locations.
