Oldsmar SC/Eintracht Winter Skills Camp Recap
Day 3 = "Erfolg"

Day 3 and we close out this years edition of the Oldsmar SC / Eintracht Frankfurt Winter Skills Camp.  It was a complete "Erfolg"!  We’d like to thank all of those OSC members that attended as well as all the participants from the surrounding clubs for taking part in this amazing camp.  We couldn’t have done it without you.  We also want to give a huge shout out to Goalkeeper Coach Rachel Howard-Velmer and OSC U12 Boys Coach Mike Figgener for helping out too! And finally, thanks to our new friends from Germany, Coach Gerald Mai, Coach Toby Wawroschek, Coach Udo Schenatzky and of course our very own Director of Coaching, Kai Velmer.  Through their efforts this camp was a huge success (or in German - "Erfolg")!  Pictures and videos are being compiled as we speak... stay tuned.  Thanks again and we hope you all have a wonderful holiday season.

Eintracht Frankfurt Background

The club was founded in 1899 and is one of the original sixteen teams selected to play in the Bundesliga (English Translation - "National League") , Germany's new professional football league, formed in 1963. Eintracht Frankfurt has been playing top flight Bundesliga soccer for thirty-three seasons finishing in the top half of the table more often than not.

They won the German Cup in 1974, 1975, 1981, and 1988, and won the UEFA Cup in 1980.  Eintracht competed in the European Cup final against Real Madrid on May 18 1960 at Hampden Park 7-3 in front of 127,621 spectators.  It is one of the most talked about European matches of all time, with Di Stéfano scoring 3 and Puskás scoring the other 4 for Real Madrid.

As of 2007 Eintracht has over 10 million fans in Germany.  In 2008-09 Eintracht had the 20th highest attendance with an average of 48,324 a game in Europe, ahead of such prominent clubs as Liverpool and Chelsea.

More recently, Eintracht were finalists in the 2006 German Cup. Their opponents in the final, Bayern Munich, Bundesliga champions that year, qualified to participate in the Champions League. As a result Eintracht received the Cup winner’s place in the UEFA Cup where they advanced to the group stage.
